Environmental Issue and Global Impact
Introduction to Environmental Issue
Environmental issues can be explained as the injurious effects of the activities that are carried by human beings on the planet Earth. The planet Earth is one of those planets of the universe that has supported life. In the last few decades, it has been observed that activities carried by the human being are bringing drastic effects to the environmental system and also producing several diseases in society. The rapid increase in environmental issues has also influenced biodiversity due to which massive extinction of wildlife and aquatic animals has taken occurred. Many practices that are followed by the people in their daily life are affecting the ecosystem and society at a mass level. On the other hand, environmental management is actively contributing its part to mitigate the risk of biodiversity and the environment. It is also acknowledged that suitable protection attempts and many sustainable development policies are executed by the society and the government to preserves the natural resources and ecosystem. Some of the major problems that are related to the environmental issues incorporate water pollution, global warming, deforestation, waste disposal and acid rain. The environmental problem has reached the level of the global issue and has assembled various organizations, media sectors and societies all over the world from the past three decades. The article investigates the major environmental issues that are currently taking place in the environment and the activities that are associated with this major problem. The purpose of this article is to understand carefully the impacts of human activities and to analyze the approaches of different nations in mitigating the damage to the global environment.
Causes of Environmental Issue
Water is one of the valuable natural resources, but unfortunately, it has become a rare commodity on the earth. The scarcity of hygienic drinking water has now become the political and economic subject and hence given rise to disputes and conflicts in many countries. The polluting of water is significantly caused due to industrial practices as they dump their toxic pollutants and waste materials in the oceans and seas. The action not only pollutes the drinking water but also harms and kills numerous aquatic animals at the same time. Another major factor that is contributing to the environmental issue is global warming. Global warming is caused by the activities of people that results in the emission of greenhouse gasses. The global warming results in the rising temperature of oceans and glaciers, the rise in the sea levels, and abnormal system of precipitation that include heavy snowfall, flash floods, and desertification. Similarly, the overpopulation has led to the scarcity of natural resources such as wood, water, and fuels. To fulfil necessities, intensive agricultural methods are executed to produce food and crop that eventually harm the environment through chemical fertilizers, insecticides, and pesticides.
The forests are the significant source that assists in the balancing of climate as they release water vapour in the air and provide shade that is helpful to keep the soil moist. Also, the forests contribute to controlling global warming, storing plenty of floodwaters, and providing habitats for the number of species. In contrast, deforestation is one of the important environmental issues in today’s world that has caused major imbalance in the ecological and environmental system. The growing population in the world has demanded land at the mass level for the use of agriculture, industrial activities, urbanization and other needs that have directly resulted in deforestation. In many parts of the world, the deforestation takes place due to desertification of land, logging, mining and forest fires. The scientists believe that deforestation that is practised at a high level without considering its aftermath will not only impact the biodiversity but can also result in long-term environmental issues if continued with the recent pace. Unfortunately, deforestation influences the environmental process negatively and also affects the world’s climate in numerous ways.
Waste Disposal Mismanagement
Waste disposals are also considered as the leading factor in environmental issues. It is analyzed that the primary production and consumption of plastic has caused the global disaster of waste disposal. Many of the developed countries are infamous for their practices of producing a plentiful amount of trash and debris and throwing away it in seas and oceans. The scientist believes that plastic products, packaging, fast foods and the waste of cheap electronic items can intimidate the lives of human beings and animals. On the other hand, the increase of individual pollutants and chemical in the atmosphere produce acid rain that damages the ecosystem and environment drastically. It is examined that the reason of acid rain is the rotting vegetation or eruption of the volcanoes that consequently releases various gasses in the atmosphere such as nitrogen oxide and sulfur oxide. Also, the combustion of fossil fuels is the major cause of acid rain that produces harmful effects for all living beings.
Environmental Management System (EMS) has the objective to deal with the environmental programs that are carried in an organized, planned and comprehensive manner. The programs of environmental management incorporate research and opinions on the utilization and maintenance of the natural resources, the safety of the habitats, organizational structure, planning on the development of natural resources, and policies that are crucial for the protection and sustainability of the environment. The Environmental Management System (EMS) is a formal body that aims to advance environmental performance by complying with the laws and reduction in waste products. The EMS plays a significant role in the decrease of pollution through effective planning, control and monitoring policies.
How to control environmental issues?
To control environmental pollution, it is primarily important to reduce pollution and the use of oil and fossil fuels on a mass level. In recent years, there have been drastic efforts made to find clean, renewable energy sources such as biofuel, hydropower, solar energy, and wind power. In addition to that, one of the core elements participating in sustainability is environmental education. It is essential to learn about the environment helps getting closer towards the easiest ways to make a difference and mitigate your carbon footprint. Besides, it is also important to understand that wildlife including plants, animals and habitats plays a vital role in maintaining a balance of natural systems. There are multiple different organization involved in wildlife conservation around the world and express the significance of conservation and investing in biodiversity.
